Our History

Founded in 1999, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia (AACCGP) was created in response to the growing need for a unified voice and support structure for the region’s rapidly expanding Asian American business community. What began as a volunteer-led initiative has since evolved into a professionally managed nonprofit organization, officially registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for charitable and educational purposes. From humble beginnings to becoming a regional hub of business connectivity and cultural advocacy, AACCGP has served as a trusted partner to over 13,000 business owners and professionals. The Chamber continues to build lasting bridges between Asian-owned enterprises and the broader economic ecosystem across Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.

Our Mission

AACCGP’s mission is to make meaningful connections that foster true economic and community growth. These connections are not only between business owners and clients but also between entrepreneurs and policymakers, nonprofits and corporate partners, and between generations of Asian American leaders.

We serve as a resource, convener, advocate, and ally. Our work is rooted in the belief that economic advancement and cultural understanding go hand-in-hand. By offering access to resources, education, and opportunities, we empower our members to thrive and contribute to a more vibrant, inclusive economy.

“Making Connections That Matter.”

Our 5 Pillars of Service

AACCGP’s work is strategically aligned around five service pillars, each designed to support and grow Asian American businesses at every stage of development.

ACCGP

1. Membership Support

We provide tailored services and benefits to our members, including business matchmaking, visibility on our digital platforms, access to exclusive events, and technical assistance. Whether you’re a solo entrepreneur or part of a growing organization, AACCGP helps you build the right connections and scale effectively.

2. Advocacy

AACCGP is a vocal advocate for policy change and inclusion. We meet with elected officials, testify at public hearings, and publish position statements that champion economic equity, minority business inclusion in government contracts, and the dismantling of systemic barriers for immigrant entrepreneurs. We advocate on behalf of our members at:

  • Philadelphia City Council
  • Pennsylvania State Legislature
  • U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)
  • Other federal and local entities

3. Economic Development

We serve as a bridge between Asian American businesses and the broader economic infrastructure of the region. By partnering with local government, anchor institutions, and procurement offices, AACCGP helps create opportunities in real estate, transportation, infrastructure, digital innovation, and more. We actively work to connect our members with government contracts, financing programs, and corporate supply chains.

4. Small Business Excellence

This pillar is focused on the technical and operational growth of our members. AACCGP delivers workshops, mentorships, and accelerator-style training programs. Topics include:

  • Business certification (MBE/WBE/DBE)
  • Digital marketing and e-commerce
  • Financial literacy and access to capital
  • Legal compliance and human resource development
We also celebrate success through our Annual Awards Banquet, which honors outstanding Asian American business leaders.

5. Strengthening Partnerships

No organization can succeed in a silo. AACCGP has formed dynamic partnerships with other chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, universities, city agencies, and corporate allies. These partnerships help our members unlock broader opportunities and drive inclusive prosperity across sectors.

Our Role in Advocacy

Advocacy is at the heart of our mission. The Chamber listens to the concerns of the Asian American business community and brings those voices to decision-makers. We advocate for fair policies on:

  • Minority and immigrant business procurement
  • Language access in public services
  • Anti-discrimination protections
  • Economic relief during crises (e.g., pandemic recovery efforts)
Through our presence on advisory boards, civic coalitions, and industry panels, AACCGP shapes the conversation around equitable business development.

Why It Matters

Asian Americans represent one of the fastest-growing populations in the United States—and a major force in small business innovation. Despite their economic impact, Asian-owned businesses still face challenges, from underrepresentation in procurement pipelines to language and policy barriers. AACCGP exists to help level the playing field.
